A New District for the Great Lakes Region
Welcome to District 216 — the Toastmasters community serving Michigan, Northern Indiana, Northern Ohio, and Southwestern Ontario. Toastmasters is a worldwide nonprofit where members build confidence in public speaking and leadership in a friendly, supportive setting.

On July 1, 2026, three established Toastmasters districts — District 11A, District 28, and District 62 — combined to form District 216, serving members across Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Ontario.
These realignments follow a regular cycle: roughly every five years, Toastmasters International reviews and redraws district boundaries to keep pace with shifts in membership and club growth. District 216 is the result of that latest review for our region.
The realignment created five new divisions (A through E), keeping clubs connected to nearby leadership while broadening the network of speakers, mentors, and contests available across the region.
Members keep their home club. The same Pathways learning experience continues. The district name and structure around them are what’s new.
District 216 brings together 146 clubs across 5 divisions and 26 areas, spanning Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Ontario.

| July 1, 2026 | CompleteDistrict 216 officially launched; new officers took office. |
| Aug 6 & 25, 2026 | CompleteSummer Club Officer Training (TLI) — online, “A New Horizon.” |
| September 29, 2026 | First District 216 Council Business Meeting. 7:00–9:00 PM ET, online via Zoom. Budget approval, appointed District officers, and two FY28 policy votes. Registration is required and serves as your credential — credentials close September 21. |
| Nov 2026 – Feb 2027 | Winter Club Officer Training (TLI). Additional sessions for club officers, online and in person. Dates are being finalized — watch the events calendar. |
| Winter – Spring 2027 | Speech contest season. Club, Area, and Division contests lead to the District finals at the spring conference. |
| April 14, 2027 | Spring District Council Business Meeting. Second council meeting of the program year. |
| Spring 2027 | Inaugural District 216 Conference. Education sessions, District contest finals, and recognition of the year’s achievements — location, theme, and dates to be announced. |
